The bachelor of science in computer science at Wayne State University establishes a strong foundation in computer science theory, programming practice, technical communication and team collaboration.Here, you'll solve real-world computer science problems and gain firsthand experience working with industry leaders and exciting startups. You'll prepare to pursue further study at the master's level or to land feet-first in your dream career.

What can I do with a Computer Science Degree?

Launch your career in software design, intelligent systems, big data systems and analytics, computer systems and network design, software system security, bioinformatics, and more with a bachelor's in computer science. At Wayne State University, we'll equip you for careers in academia, industry, government, community spaces, and graduate studies.We also offer a co-op work-study program where you can gain paid, on-the-job engineering experience with a notable employer.

  • Wayne State requires a minimum of 30 credits in residency.
  • The pathway allows multiple associate degree options with the flexibility to customize your degree path. The minimum eligibility to participate in the Wayne State Transfer Pathways is a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above, Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA), and an associate degree (earned or Reverse Transfer). See transfer credit guidelines.
  • All college-level (non-developmental), non-duplicated courses with a 2.0 (C) grade point average (GPA) or above will be considered for transfer credit. Earned credit will transfer as 1) direct course equivalency, 2) major/department credit, or 3) elective credit. Credits not earned at Macomb will need to be taken at WSU.
  • These pathways do not replace the importance of Macomband Wayne State academic advising. The pathway provides a general roadmap to degree completion.
