It should be on a bit of paper. Looks like a leaflet / advertisem*nt if I recall correctly.

I bought the essentials kit off Amazon and I didn't receive the flyer with the code on it, my flyer looks different from all the flyers I've seen on this subject... smh
So in order for me to add it to my online account, Ill have to purchase it again??

Possibly. There has been some speculation here (but no official confirmation that I’ve seen) that later printings of the essentials kit don’t include the codes. Does it say anywhere on the box that the codes are included? Apparently the early boxes did, and newer boxes don’t.

Nowhere! I have looked and tried every number code I could find! smh. I wish I didn't have to buy it twice. Im new to the site, but not the game. I haven't played in years but decided to get back into it and introduce the table top RPG to my children - Just trying to have some family fun. Wish there was a way to add the physical box sets

I can understand the desire, and I'm sorry that WOTC ended the codes for the DDB version. Depending on how you want to work with it, it may not be necessary to buy the whole thing twice. Presuming you will be the DM, if you are comfortable running the adventure from the print version, you could only purchase what you need here to run it the way you want. For example, if you want to use the encounter builder and combat tracker, you would want to buy the monsters from the adventure: all the monsters are $8. You might need to purchase individual monsters from the Monster Manual, too, as you come upon them, but many of them will be in the Basic Rules/SRD and freely available to you.

For character generation, about half of the character options in the booklet are free, as they are the Basic Rules/SRD. (E.g. 1 subclass per class). The others can be purchased individually if one of your players wants to use them.

For more information about individual purchases and deciding what to buy depending on how you want to use it, see the Buyer's Guide linked in my signature.

One thing to think about in terms of character purchases: are your players going to have their own DDB accounts and handle their character sheets digitally, or will you create them on your account and print them out? Note that by the rules, children under 13 can't create accounts here. (Child safety laws about internet usage are at play here). Also, it is against the terms of service for people to share one account.

If your players are going to have their own accounts, then those players should purchase the player options (race, subclass, spells, etc) they want OR you will need to get a master tier subscription to allow content sharing, and then you can do all the purchasing, or spread it out as you see fit. If you are going to manage the characters online and print out pdfs for the players, then you can purchase the items.

Very Helpful information! All my players are 13 and Up, so no issues there. I am the DM and I have purchased the Master Tier so that I could share. I have physical Character Sheets but they have accounts here as well. Im still exploring the site and seeing whats available! Looking to start a group with my players and add them for the online experience!

    I also didn't get the code 😭

I had wanted to use the discount to buy the players hand guide. This is pretty disappointing.

I really wish there was a way to combine your physical purchases and our digital ones.

    Edit:

I just check the Amazon web page and the picture says it includes the code.

    This should be remedied

Yeah, I bought the set largely because it allegedly also had the code. Just opened it and all I got was an advertisem*nt.

    Not a happy camper.
