⭐ The Best Ham Roll Ups

Ham roll ups are one of my favorite appetizers to whip up at the end of the week when the cupboards and fridge are looking a bit dry! I always have these ingredients on hand, more or less. I love making them because they are versatile, flavorsome, and super easy.

Fresh deli ham, spinach, and ricotta cheese make this delicious roll-up appetizer. It's ideal for meal preparation (snacking), a quick dinner, or picnics.

Who knew something so simple could taste so good!

The versatility is excellent with roll ups! Even when I don't have ricotta cheese for this recipe, I use sliced cheese instead or just a combination of cheeses and mix it with whatever vegetables I have. I even use flour tortilla wraps if I don't have sliced ham to make the roll ups, but they obviously taste better with ham.

🍽 What you need

Feel free to use your favorite deli meat, but make sure they're cut thin and large. I usually use smoked honey ham because they are succulently juicy. You get big round slices perfect for making these ham roll ups.

I use spinach for this recipe, but you can choose kale also, as they are similar in flavor and texture.

  • homemade ranch seasoning
  • authentic taco seasoning
  • black olives
  • pickles

💭 Top Recipe Tips

  • Make the same filling but with thinly sliced leftover roast beef, turkey slices, pepperoni, or any other type of meat slice that is foldable without breaking. Make sure the slices are thin and round.
  • Substitute the ham slices for gluten-free flour tortillas to make them vegetarian and gluten-free.
  • Use what cheeses you have in the fridge if you don't have ricotta or mozzarella. I find that cheddar cheese, Bree, or Monterey jack work well with this recipe.
  • It takes practice to roll tightly. Stick toothpicks through the ends of the roll ups to keep them tight.

🧊 Storing

Ham roll ups are perfect for prepping in advance for game day, a family gathering, or whatever the occasion may be.

Fridge

You can store the leftover in the fridge on a plate covered with plastic wrap for up to 3 days or transfer them to an airtight container. I do not recommend freezing ham and cheese roll ups as the ricotta cheese may not react well when thawing and may become liquified.
